Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the king of independents.
That is among the findings of a Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday that shows Mr. Kennedy is garnering more support among people unaffiliated with the two major parties than President Biden or former President Donald Trump.
Mr. Kennedy gained 36% support among that group, compared to Mr. Biden’s 31% and Mr. Trump’s 30%, in a hypothetical three-person race.
“With minority and younger voters seeming intrigued, Kennedy, for now, enjoys the kind of demographic support his charismatic father and uncles generated decades ago,” said Tim Malloy, a Quinnipiac University polling analyst.
Mr. Biden, however, leads the race overall, capturing 39% of the vote. Mr. Trump comes in at 36% and Mr. Kennedy at 22%.
Mr. Kennedy initially ran in the Democratic primary, but switched things up because, he said, the party establishment was continually backing Mr. Biden.
