President Biden has gone totally off the reservation with his drive to completely electrify America (“White House’s expensive and unrealistic push for electric vehicles,” web, May 9).

His push to replace 300 million gasoline-fueled automobiles, eliminate natural gas stoves, furnaces and hot water heaters, electrify farm tractors and harvesters and saddle the U.S. military with battery-powered trucks and tanks demonstrates that the king is wearing no clothes — and the media won’t tell him. He is an international embarrassment.

I can’t wait until next week when he will likely propose to electrify NASA by requiring that all space vehicles be battery-powered and recharged by Tesla-style charging stations on the dark side of the moon. Are Americans really that oblivious to the problem in the White House? If so, there’s no hope for the nation.

Russia and our other adversaries needn’t expand the Cold War to put an end to America; all they have to do is wait for the White House to do it for them.
