I fully expect this Supreme Court to bail out President Biden for his unfortunate decision to act unilaterally and forgive hundreds of billions of dollars in student loans (“As court debates student loans, borrowers see disconnect,” web, March 1).

The court is all but certain to reject the proposal, finding that the president did not have the standing to go around Congress and enact a well-intentioned but severely flawed initiative.

Providing relief only to current students and to do so at such enormous when the nation has a debt in excess of $31 trillion (and is incurring deficits in excess of $1 trillion per year) opens a can of worms that should remain closed. I will be grateful when the court tosses out Mr. Biden’s student-loan relief.
