A known murder suspect in Mexico was arrested last week by Border Patrol agents near El Paso, Texas.
The 30-year-old Mexican man, whom authorities did not name, was arrested by U.S. federal agents Wednesday in Socorro, a city that hugs the U.S. side of the Rio Grande just 16 miles southeast of El Paso.
“Border Patrol Agents in the El Paso Sector routinely work with officials from the Government of Mexico – this is a longstanding partnership in our region and one I’m very proud to continue,” said El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Anthony Good. “We will continue to work with our Mexican counterparts to repatriate wanted individuals across both sides of the border.”
Border Patrol officials first learned that the suspect was in San Elizario, a Texas city adjacent to Socorro.
The suspect was turned over to Mexican authorities Wednesday afternoon on the Paso Del Norte International Bridge.
