I have been a subscriber to your paper for nearly 20 years, following my cancellation of my Washington Post subscription.

In “The problem with blind loyalty to Donald Trump” (web, June 23), Everett Piper tells us that if we’re MAGA supporters, we may be dealing with the devil and following false gods. Mr. Piper even compares MAGA supporters to the mindless followers of former President Barack Obama.

But that was commentary, and while I was disturbed that it was in my “conservative” newspaper, I let it go.

Then, on Wednesday, I saw the front-page article by Jeff Mordock that’s supposed to be news, not opinion (“Justice: Trump kept defense papers illegally”). It essentially states as fact that former President Trump broke the law and is guilty. It quotes people saying so, including special counsel Jack Smith.

I expect — at a minimum — impartiality in your news sections, with both sides of a topic presented to the reader. The federal classified documents case against Mr. Trump is a highly controversial and historic matter, and both sides of the argument must be reported.

I ask that you review your positions and consider your readership. If you are “canceling” Mr. Trump, please say as much so that I and others can consider where we get our information.
