Even though Rep. Adam Schiff was censured by the House of Representatives last week, the censure is being downplayed by the mainstream media, which is determined to make the shaming old news (“House censures Rep. Adam Schiff over Trump-Russia investigations,” web, June 21).

Mr. Schiff’s incessant lying and false accusations that former President Donald Trump colluded with Russia will reverberate for a long time.

Mr. Schiff was rewarded in 2019 by then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who appointed him chairman of then-President Trump’s first impeachment proceedings. Notwithstanding that madam and her acolyte knew all along the accusations were baseless, of course.

But as most of us know, the Democrat kangaroos in the House willingly went along with Mr. Schiff’s lies and impeached Mr. Trump along strict party lines even though Mr. Schiff failed to produce an iota of evidence to substantiate his claims.

Unlike Mr. Trump’s impeachments, the impeachment of former President Richard Nixon was not a sham. Nixon’s commission of high crimes and misdemeanors was demonstrated by the evidence.

I’d like to see Speaker Kevin McCarthy succeed in getting both of Mr. Trump’s sham impeachments expunged from House records.

The president was, after all, acquitted in his first impeachment trial in the Senate. And after his second impeachment — instigated hurriedly by the venal Mrs. Pelosi — no trial was ever conducted in the Senate.

Repudiation of Mr. Schiff and Mrs. Pelosi by expungement of Mr. Trump’s impeachments would be well deserved.

Might expungement also restore the House to a modicum of decency, honor, integrity and comity of political parties?
