As “’Sweetheart deal’ on Hunter Biden’s felony gun charge raises complaints of double standard” (web, June 21) makes clear, ours is indeed a two-tiered justice system.

Democrats escape charges with dry eyes, Republicans cry me a river in the slammer. And the worst is probably not to come. A special counsel is charged with investigating the Biden documents scandal, and the Hunter Biden prosecutor says his investigation is not complete, teasing the promise he might be looking into the Biden amily business shenanigans.

We’ve heard nothing from the Biden special counsel, even though his case would seem to be simpler than the Trump special investigator’s case. Why? President Biden is allegedly cooperating with his special counsel. So how come the Trump special counsel has quickly come forth with indictments blazing while it’s crickets from the Biden counterpart?

The Hunter Biden investigation has limped along for five years, finally producing nothing but a slap on the wrist for tax and gun violations. The federal attorney on Hunter’s case claims his investigation continues, but Hunter’s attorney disputes that.

My guess is that we’ll hear little or nothing from the Biden special counsel or the Hunter investigator, and in the meantime, the Department of Justice and the FBI can continue to stiff-arm Congress by pointing to an allegedly ongoing investigation of Hunter that has gone nowhere slowly.

Who says Democrats don’t like our criminal justice system?
