Kudos to Comer

OPINION:

Hunter Biden was and is a dishonest person (“Biden associate in foreign deals in talks with House investigators about testifying,” web, June 15).

The emails on his laptop indicate that he and family members received huge amounts of money from foreign governments or their proxies, false businesses meant to hide illegal transactions. In the case of Hunter Biden, most of these proxies were controlled by the Communist Chinese government or the previous, corrupt Ukrainian government.

Hunter Biden was extremely careless and gave his damaged computer to a repair shop, disregarding the remarkable information on it. The repair shop owner contacted the FBI because emails on that computer showed criminal activity. 

Yet the FBI kept the computer and its contents confidential. Any suggestion of its contents was denied or ridiculed.

Unfortunately for America, FBI and CIA heads and others in the Justice Department were part of a group to keep the story and its information secret. Those FBI agents under the control of their superiors had to go along with the program or face severe consequences.

Five FBI whistleblowers who appeared before the House Oversight Committee faced hostile scrutiny by Democrats for delivering this information to the committee and the public. The Democrats in the House seemed completely united against the dissemination of this information.

As for Hunter Biden’s character, consider the fact that he was thrown out of the military because of his drug use. Consider the fact that he was paid a great deal of money by a Ukrainian gas corporation while knowing nothing about either gas or Ukraine.

As to whether President Biden was ever involved with his son’s misconduct, Fox News reported and showed him bragging about how a Ukrainian investigator looking into Hunter’s actions was fired from his job. The then-vice president said that unless the investigator was fired within the six hours while Mr. Biden was still in Ukraine, a billion-dollar aid package would not move forward. Mr. Biden bragged that the investigator was fired in half the time.

The contents of Hunter Biden’s computer and later research showed that a number of phony, empty corporations were established. Their purpose was to receive large amounts of money and transfer the funds to other phony corporations. Finally the money went to the Biden family members. Among those who received a large amount: a 3-year-old child.

A great deal of thanks for the discovery of all this information should go to Rep. James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee. These investigations were made despite obstruction and hostility from Democrats, who banded together to prevent and obstruct the investigations. In fact, this formal investigation could only be made after the Republicans gained control of the House.
