“Where are the headlines?”

That’s the question that actor Jim Caviezel and former undercover operator for the Department of Homeland Security Tim Ballard hope viewers will start asking after seeing “Sound of Freedom.”

The Angel Studios film, which is currently playing in theaters (and just out-performed Disney’s “Indiana Jones: Dial of Destiny”), tells the true story of Mr. Ballard (played by Mr. Caviezel) who eventually quit his government job in order to devote his life to rescuing children from global sex traffickers. Mr. Caviezel and Mr. Ballard recently sat down with The Washington Times to discuss the film and the “godless” child sexualization agenda they say is fueling the child trafficking trade, which affects nearly 2 million children each year.

“I used to think that I might be out of job some day because maybe God willing, we could end this,” Ballard said. “I’m worried that we’re going to be out of a job someday because the current wave of this godless, leftist kind of movement around children are going to begin to eliminate the laws that we need to protect them so it won’t be illegal anymore to have sex with children.”

Mr. Ballard is the founder of Operation Underground Railroad, a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing children from sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. Over the course of his career, he’s gone undercover to infiltrate child trafficking organizations, successfully dismantling dozens of them, and has helped rescue thousands of children from slavery and exploitation. And while you would think that a man like that would be celebrated for the “horrific” work that he’s had to do over the years, Mr. Caviezel revealed that it’s actually quite the opposite.

“I can’t believe it. There is such a narrative out there that they want to control on this,” Mr. Caviezel explained. “First of all, they don’t want you to know that there’s a south border open, they don’t want you to know that there’s trafficking going, and if there’s trafficking going, it’s not much. And guys like Tim they go after him and try to discredit him all the time.”

“They want to ignore this issue and I want to put a big light on it,” he continued. “And it’s just the beginning talking about the trafficking. It’s going to go a lot, lot deeper.”

Mr. Ballard agreed that his work has become increasingly difficult because of the attacks he’s faced at home by the media and people who have an “agenda” to exploit children.

“Our children here at home – the agenda is focused on them. They’re in the crosshairs,” Mr. Ballard said. “Pedophiles are sitting back they’re watching this and they’re going, ‘Wow this has been our agenda for decades and now half of the country is doing it for us,’ sexualizing kids, putting them on a silver platter.”

And while Mr. Ballard says there are many forces at work, including political and financial interests, there is a spiritual aspect to this sad reality as well.

“There’s a spiritual warfare. There’s a part of this, it’s a darkness that you sense, you see in the eyes of traffickers, pedophiles, people who are hurting kids – they’re soulless,” Mr. Ballard said.

That’s a big part of why Mr. Caviezel says people need to see “Sound of Freedom” as well.

“I hope that people have the courage to go see it… Putting our head down in the sand is not going to be what’s going to solve this whole thing,” he said. “Our love for God’s children has got to be greater than our fear of evil.”
