Bronny James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, suffered a cardiac arrest Monday during practice at USC and was taken to the hospital, his family said in a statement.

James is now in stable condition and no longer in the ICU, the statement said. USC’s medical staff was able to treat James on-site during the incident.

“We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information,” the statement said. “LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.”

An incoming freshman at USC, the 18-year-old James is one of the most highly touted prospects in the nation. He was named a McDonald’s All-American this past season and is expected to one day play in the NBA.

According to TMZ, James was unconscious when taken to the hospital by ambulance. The outlet reported the 911 call was made at 9:26 a.m. from USC’s Galen Center.
