OPINION:
A coffee shop in Denver, Colorado, faces fire from local communists for supporting the biblical definition of marriage, i.e., homosexuality is a sin.
More from the tolerant left.
“Our parent company, Recycled God’s Love, has been helping the homeless since 2012,” said Jamie Sanchez, owner of The Drip Cafe, on his ministry of coffee and help for the homeless, Denver 7 reported. “[This cafe] is part of our project to provide jobs and funding for the homeless community coming out of homelessness.”
Screw the homeless; the group Denver Communists and LGBTQ activists didn’t like the cafe’s Bible-based web postings — the ones that went like this, drawn from 1 Timothy 1:10 and 1 Corinthians 6:9: “[The] homosexual lifestyle is contrary to God’s Word and purpose for humanity and is sin,” the “What We Hold To Be True” portion of the page stated.
In an interview with The Christian Post, Sanchez said he thinks Denver Communists saw the post, were triggered by the post, and subsequently launched an all-out call for protests in the streets against the cafe, which have been ongoing for weeks now. And they’re growing in tension.
From protests in the streets on the cafe’s June 2 opening day, to harassment of customers — “[they] were even harassing our visually impaired Christian friend who was hosting his radio show in front of our building,” Sanchez said — to now, more recently, the launch of a social media assault to drive even more protesters to the store, the leftist vitriol is surging.
On their Facebook page, Denver Communists, first called the coffee shop a “hate-cafe” and then wrote: “There is no way The Drip Cafe is going to make it through their (probably multi-year) lease! Like the rest of the neighborhood, we’re determined to drive them out asap.”
Sounds like a threat, right?
Notice the silence of Democrats. Notice the blind eyes, deaf ears, hands-off response of those who supposedly serve the political party of tolerance, unity, love — love is love! — and diversity.
“We taunted them with ‘you’re not gonna make rent next month!’ However, Drip runs on volunteer labor, donations and purchases from ideologically-motivated church members, so we’ve got a fight ahead of us,” Denver Communists wrote on Facebook.
Leftists hate biblical truths so much they’re willing to allow homeless to suffer. They’d sooner yank food from a homeless man’s plate than allow a charity with Christian leanings to serve that man.
It’s time for Christian lawyers to step up and provide the cafe a legal shield — starting with a lawsuit against the Denver Communists for making overt threats to destroy the business.
