Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is still in critical condition Wednesday morning, but his doctors did see progress overnight, according to a report from ESPN.
Jordon Rooney, a friend of Hamlin, told ESPN that Hamlin, who collapsed on the field Monday night, was still in the intensive care unit at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Hamlin went into cardiac arrest Monday night in the Bills’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The 24-year-old safety tackled Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, and after he stood up following the hit, Hamlin fell to the ground. He was given CPR on the field as his teammates surrounded him, and he was taken to the nearby hospital in an ambulance.
Hamlin is still sedated in the hospital. His agent, Ron Butler, told ESPN on Tuesday night that Hamlin’s oxygen levels had improved from when he arrived in the hospital late Monday night.
The NFL announced Tuesday that the Bills-Bengals game will not be resumed this week. It has not been determined when or if the game will be resumed. No changes have been made to the Week 18 schedule this weekend.
The Bills, who are scheduled to play the Patriots at 1 p.m. Sunday, announced that they will hold team meetings and a walk-through Wednesday.
