The recent news that former President Donald Trump paid no federal income taxes for a number of years highlights the need for some form of congressional retaliation (“Trump’s taxes: GOP defends ex-president amid warnings of ‘dangerous precedent’ set by Democrats,” Web, Jan. 1). Congress should take away his presidential pension, the lifetime Secret Service protection, staff and any office expenses he’s entitled to as a former president.

Donald Trump doesn’t want to do what every American is expected to do: pay taxes to fund the operations of our government. Why should the American people continue to fund him?
