New York Giants coach Brian Daboll told reporters after his team’s playoff-clinching victory Sunday that quarterback Daniel Jones decided on his own to give the team off on Monday and Tuesday.

“Usually we don’t give that at all,” Daboll said with a smile. “But I had Daniel [Jones] break down the team, so he basically gave it to everybody without talking to me.”

For Giants defensive end Jihad Ward (and likely many other New York players and fans), the extra day off will be much appreciated.

During an Instagram Live inside the Giants’ locker room at MetLife Stadium, Ward declared what he planned to do to celebrate the win over the Colts that clinched a Giants playoff berth for the first time since 2016.

“I’m getting drunk,” Ward said.

Daboll’s players also gave him a Gatorade bath after the 38-10 triumph.

“It was sticky and wet,” Daboll said.

The Giants (9-6-1) are guaranteed to be the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoffs and will play on the road at the No. 3 seed (either San Francisco or Minnesota) in the wild-card round.
