New York Mayor Eric Adams said Sunday that his city has reached its breaking point due to the increasing influx of illegal aliens coming from the southern border (“NYC mayor visits Texas border, blasts feds’ migrant response,” Web, Jan. 16). I have a question for Mr. Adams and every other Democratic politician who is now feeling just a small amount of pressure the border states feel: When are you going to reach your breaking point and finally lash out at the Biden administration for its catastrophic failure to secure the border?

Perhaps the best metaphor used to describe what illegal immigration is doing to cities like New York is this: When a bathtub is overflowing with water, the very first thing you do is turn off the water. Doing anything else is pointless until that step has been taken.

Watching the Biden administration as it not only fails to “turn off” the illegal-alien faucet but instead more fully opens it, people like me  enter the “Survivetil25” mode of austerity living. From a historical standpoint, we’re witnessing the very first world leader to allow his country to be invaded — and do nothing about it. At this rate, there’s real doubt as to whether we as a country can make it to January 2025 when the next president will face the daunting task of cleaning up this mess.
