So the Consumer Product Safety Commission is considering a ban on gas stoves, supposedly to combat indoor pollution such as nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide, which have been linked to respiratory problems (“Federal agency weighs banning new gas stoves over health risks,” Web, Jan. 10). The ban is nothing more than part of its anti-global-warming initiative against the burning of any fossil fuel.

If natural gas stoves were truly a problem for Americans’ health, they would have been banned decades ago. The federal government really wants to eliminate the sale of any fuel-burning appliances or machines. They are looking to ban gas-powered lawn mowers, leaf blowers and automobiles. In short order they will want to ban gas-fired home furnaces, water heaters, fireplaces and whatever else uses fossil fuel.

They will always claim some health benefit to cover their true objective, which is to “save” the planet from humans.
