Congressional Republicans, buoyed by their recent takeover of the House, have announced plans for a new committee, a special committee, a GOP-run committee, that will look at past years of government abuses committed by federal authorities against U.S. citizens — including against Donald Trump — and set the foundations in place, finally, for accountability. Democrats have reacted with horror. Of course they have.

Cue the world’s smallest violin.

Democrats are finally going to get what they deserve — a taste of their own witch-hunty ways.

“House GOP eyes new committee to probe ‘weaponization’ of federal government,” NBC News wrote. “The panel, expected to be led by Rep. Jim Jordan, would have far-reaching authority and be empowered to investigate ‘ongoing criminal investigations.’ Democrats are pushing back.”

Push away, Democrats. It’s comeuppance time.

“The House panel,” NBC went on, “could make Jordan, a Freedom Caucus co-founder who’s poised to chair the larger Judiciary Committee as well, one of the most powerful figures of the new Congress by extending his jurisdiction into areas that the committee doesn’t ordinarily oversee, like intelligence.”

Jordan with power to pull in White House figures who demanded social media censorship of private citizens — imagine that. Jordan with power to demand answers from a Justice Department that went after parents for the crime of, gasp, parenting — imagine that. Jordan with power to demand answers from leftist-leaning government bureaucrats who worked hand-in-hand with medical bureaucrats and Big Pharma bureaucrats to deceive the American people, and attack the American people, over COVID-tied controls and dictates and mandates and tyrannical crackdowns — imagine that.

“We have a duty to get into these agencies and look at how they have been weaponized to go against the very people they’re supposed to represent,” Jordan said, on Fox News, “[and] how they infringed on First Amendment liberties of the American people. And we’re going to do that. We’re going to do it in a way that’s consistent with the Constitution. But we’re going to do it vigorously. We’re going to do it aggressively. Because that’s our job.”

Want to waste millions of tax dollars pursuing countless fabricated charges against the previous president of the United States, Donald Trump — while he was serving in the Oval Office? Fine. Fine and dandy. But accountability is coming.

House Republicans are taking back the power from Democrats and giving it to the people.

And since Democrats always accuse that of which they themselves are guilty — expect two things from these investigations: a) lots of “guilty as charged” findings to be affixed the chests of Democrats and b) lots of rabbit holes, deep, deep rabbit holes, leading to more and more and more investigations of how Democrats weaponized their offices to attack conservatives and political opponents.

Leading to more “guilty as charged” labels.

And hopefully, ultimately, leading to judicial punishments, personnel punishments, public service punishments — cuffs and cells and firings and the like.

That’s probably overly ambitious; after all, politics are politics and politicians rarely pay with time for their crimes. But at the very least, it’s nice to have a chance to make Democrats squirm.

“House Republicans continue to focus on launching partisan political stunts driven by the most extreme MAGA members of their caucus,” White House spokesman Ian Sams said of the coming committee.

Whah. Boo hoo. And too bad, so sad.

It’s time for Democrats to pay a price for persecuting American citizens for so many years.

It’s time for American citizens to seize back their powers and rub hands with glee as leftists are put under the spotlight and pressed to ‘splain themselves to the people.

It’s beginning to be a good time to be Republican again.
