Another Dan Snyder property is for sale.
The Washington Commanders owner is expected to officially list his Potomac mansion on listing sites as soon as Monday, according to a Sports Business Journal report — and the embattled billionaire is seeking $49 million for the property. That would fetch a record for a residential real estate deal in the region.
Snyder’s estate features a 30,000-square-foot French chateau-inspired home with over 15 acres of land. Snyder built the home in 2004 after purchasing the land for $8.64 million in 2000. The Commanders owner also owns a mansion near Mt. Vernon in Alexandria, which he purchased for a record $48 million in 2021.
According to Sports Business Journal, Snyder has been quietly shopping his Potomac residence for years. In 2019, a Rob Report story noted Snyder’s estate was listed for sale in October 2018 at $49 million — the same price that Snyder is expected to seek on listing sites.
The news also comes as Snyder is exploring a sale of his football franchise. The Commanders announced in November that the Snyders had hired an investment bank to explore “potential transactions” for the team, which include a full sale. Snyder is reportedly seeking at least $7 billion — though there have been mixed reports about whether the teams have received offers that high. Front Office Sports and The Washington Post reported that the Commanders did not receive an offer higher than $6.3 billion in late December during a target date for the first wave of bids.
Last November, Snyder also reportedly listed his primary residence to be in England when filing a certificate overseas for his private limited company, Snyder UK Investments Limited.
