Competence needed in U.S. defense

OPINION:

“Objects in skies serve as warnings for U.S. air defense” (Page 1, Feb. 14) quotes Biden spokesman John Kirby as saying, “One of the reasons that we think we’re seeing more is because we’re looking for more.” I wish I’d thought of that.

I hate to tell you, John, that the North American Aerospace Defense Command, National Security Agency and all the other U.S. alphabet search/spy agencies are funded to do just that without prior notification of a threat.

Security of the population is any government’s first and primary reason for existence. If our schools weren’t so busy trying to be woke, this situation wouldn’t be such a joke.

As Lee Iacocca said, “Lead, follow or get out of the way.” It was said by others as well, but Iacocca lived it. It’s time for the Biden administration to get out of the way and let competent people do the job of national security.
