Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon criticized Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Wednesday after the host asked former President Donald Trump if he would be a dictator if he’s reelected in 2024.

“Sean Hannity actually thought he was helping Trump,” Mr. Bannon said on his “War Room” podcast. “Even to ask that question shows you’re an idiot. And we don’t have time for idiots, bro. This is a war, and we don’t have time for sunshine patriots and this nonsense.”

Mr. Trump skipped Wednesday’s fourth GOP debate and instead participated in a town hall with Mr. Hannity in Iowa Tuesday.

“To be clear, do you in any way have any plans whatsoever, if reelected president, to abuse power, to break the law, to use the government to go after people?” the host asked Mr. Trump.

“Except for day one,” the former president answered, adding, “We’re closing the border and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator.”

Mr. Bannon has continuously criticized Fox and its owners, the Murdoch family. On his podcast he called Fox News “TV for stupid people.”
