NBA legend Charles Barkley called supporters of former President Donald Trump “nutty” and compared them to drunks.

Mr. Barkley, speaking on his new CNN show “King Charles,” told co-host Gayle King he was worried that Mr. Trump would abuse presidential powers on a retribution tour if he returned to the White House in 2025.

“I’m not a big Trump fan. I’m just not. ’Cause like I say, it’s the president of the United States. It ain’t for no small little group of nutty people,” said Mr. Barkley.

The Hall of Fame basketball player, who is known for an unfiltered bluntness that nears that of Mr. Trump, was pressed on that description about whether Trump backers would object to being called “nutty.”

He doubled down.

“I only call them that because they are,” he said. “They’re crazy.”

Mr. Barkley then elaborated that the “small little group” of Trump backers are beyond reason.

“They’re like your drunk friend. Like, once your friend’s drunk, there’s nothing you can say to him,” he said.
