A tourist from Singapore died after falling off a cliff while snapping photos with her husband in Minnewaska State Park in Rochester, New York.
Nur Aisyah Binte MD Akbar, 39, was hiking on the Beacon Hill Trail with husband Abdul Rauf Bin Mohd Said, 41, when she stopped to take pictures at about 1:06 p.m. Friday. Akbar lost her footing and fell about 70 feet, the New York State Police said.
Mr. Said called 911 and a state park aircrew responded, airlifting the woman and transporting her to a local hospital. She died at the hospital.
Mr. Said accompanied his wife’s body home to Singapore, where she was buried Wednesday, according to the Singapore newspaper The Straits Times.
Akbar’s fall remains under investigation, police said.
