OPINION:
President Biden has let the antisemitic monster out of the bag to all of our detriment. His left-wing supporters are running wild. The Harvard president, herself a plagiarist and cliche, has given liberals at her campus of hate permission to chant, target and harass Jews for being Jews.
And what is worse, they enjoy the approbation of their leftist masters and members of the Inner Party, such as The Washington Post, MSNBC and other Jew-hating left-wing organizations.
Loathing, threatening, stalking and endangering Jews is now legal and indeed encouraged in parts of America.
Other universities and colleges have become hotbeds of lies about Israel and violent antisemitism. Jewish Americans are afraid to go out for fear of assault and violence. It is the most anti-intellectual, hateful exercise of mass hatred since the 1930s.
There are historical analogies.
In the early 1930s, Germany was weakly ruled by President Paul von Hindenburg, an old, frail and indecisive man.
Adolf Hitler’s National Socialist German Workers’ Party had performed well in the elections of the early 1930s. The party had gotten a respectable 33% of the vote, so Hindenburg brought Hitler and his revolting antisemitism into the coalition government and appointed him chancellor in an attempt to mollify him.
It didn’t.
Hindenburg filled his Cabinet with conservatives to control Hitler, but to no avail. As Abigail Adams once said, “All men would be tyrants if they could.” Hitler could be a tyrant.
In bringing in the vile little man, Hindenburg gave legitimacy to Hitler’s party and its detestable brand of antisemitism.
Shortly thereafter, the Reichstag passed the Enabling Act, which became a foundation for Hitler’s rise to power. We know what happened to the Jews of Europe.
The Holocaust took place, and millions of human beings were exterminated. Many in today’s American left deny that the Holocaust took place. This is especially ironic since a Hollywood studio in 1994 won several Academy Awards for “Schindler’s List,” a movie about saving Jews during the Holocaust.
Mr. Biden is also an old, weak and doddering man who refuses to control or even denounce the antisemitic liberals in his party for fear of losing the support of leftist organizations such as Black Lives Matter, which is funding antisemitic groups.
History does often repeat itself, unfortunately. The same dynamics which led to the rise of antisemitism in Nazi Germany in the early 1930s are happening again, only in America.
The myth that the left is peaceful and the right is belligerent is just that: a myth. The left has always been violent, from Lenin to Hitler to Stalin to Mao to Mr. Biden. The left has always done violence to human beings, both born and unborn. Thomas Jefferson once said, “Unless we stop doing violence to other human beings, then we are still savages.”
And it’s time we start telling the truth. The comedian George Carlin was wrong. The violence of the left is not symbolic.
