Nikki Haley is highlighting New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu’s support for her campaign in a new ad airing in the first-in-the-nation primary state.
Mr. Sununu lauds Ms. Haley, calling her a “Live Free or Die Republican” who will fight for fiscal responsibility and individual liberty.
“A president should bring the best out in all of us — that is Nikki Haley,” Mr. Sununu, a four-term governor who is not seeking reelection, says into the camera. “She is a leader who builds people up.”
He adds, “She’s a new generation of conservative leadership who can help leave behind the chaos and the drama of the past.”
Ms. Haley has been climbing in the polls in New Hampshire ahead of the Jan. 23 primary.
She’s hoping Mr. Sununu’s recent endorsement will help her chase down former President Donald Trump, the clear front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination.
Mr. Trump leads Ms. Haley, who is running second, by over 20 points in New Hampshire. The former president also has a 30-point edge ahead of the Jan. 15 Iowa caucuses over his closest rival, Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida.
Mr. Sununu has been a vocal surrogate for Ms. Haley.
He says there’s plenty of time for her to stop Mr. Trump from winning the party’s nomination.
