Tucker Addington will become the latest player to join the Commanders this week when he gets the start at long snapper against the New York Jets.

His journey to football, though, was interrupted for two years when he went undrafted out of college.

“I was actually working at a rehab hospital, and being a family man,” he said.

Addington is married with three children, but continued to practice and pursue his NFL dream. He caught his break when he was signed to the Houston Gamblers of the USFL, which led to NFL opportunities, his first coming last year on Christmas Eve for the New England Patriots.

He said he usually practices with somebody catching his punts, but when working at home, will snap into a net, and his daughter will run the ball back to him.

Now, he’ll have Tress Way on the other end as he prepares to snap for the Commanders.

“Every opportunity is a blessing,” he said. “I’m thankful to be with the team and get to meet some great guys.

“This week is going to be a great opportunity to get on the field, and get between those lines again.”
