In 2023, as he’s done every year for the past 24 years, Sen. Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, has taken pride in visiting all 62 counties in the state he represents.

These annual visits provide him with a better understanding of the needs for residents of each county. But when was the last time he visited our southern border? If he went, he could view the ongoing invasion of our country by illegal immigrants. When will he visit the famous migrant shelters in Manhattan’s Hotel Roosevelt or Brooklyn’s Floyd Bennett Field (in his home borough of Kings County)?

For the third year in a row, illegal migration to the U.S. will exceed 2 million. If he bothered visiting the southern border, Mr. Schumer could also learn from Border Patrol agents about their fight to stem the smuggling of fentanyl, which is killing over 100,000 Americans every year.

When will Mr. Schumer travel to El Paso, Texas, and observe this crisis firsthand? Perhaps if he does so, he will finally be persuaded to stop holding up fully funding the completion of a border wall to protect our sovereignty.
