Former President Donald Trump expressed outrage over a Colorado Supreme Court ruling to take him off the state’s primary ballot for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.

The former president kept quiet about the ruling as he spoke in Iowa Tuesday, but took to social media that night to share how he felt. In multiple posts, he said it was a “sad day” in America and that the decision was a “shame” for the country.

He said the nation is becoming a “banana republic” and that President Biden should drop “these fake political indictments” against him. Mr. Trump added that every case he’s facing, both criminal and civil, is the “work of the DOJ & White House.”

He shared multiple clips from Fox News showing people disagreeing with the ruling, including George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley and American Majority CEO Ned Ryun.

“This country is a powder keg, and this court is just throwing matches at it. And I think it’s a real mistake,” Mr. Turley said, adding that he thinks the court is “wrong on the law.”

“For people that say they are trying to protect democracy, this is hands down the most anti-democratic opinion I’ve seen in my lifetime,” he said.

Mr. Ryun said he thinks there’s “deep fear” of Mr. Trump winning the election in 2024 and what actions he would take to break apart “the administrative state and status quo.”

The Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling Tuesday said the former president engaged in an insurrection with his behavior regarding the 2020 election. The 4-3 decision ruled that he’s disqualified from holding the presidency under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment and removed his name from the state’s March 5 GOP primary ballot.

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said Mr. Trump will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court swiftly to overturn the “deeply undemocratic decision.”

“Unsurprisingly, the all-Democrat appointed Colorado Supreme Court has ruled against President Trump, supporting a Soros-funded, left-wing group’s scheme to interfere in an election on behalf of Crooked Joe Biden by removing President Trump’s name from the ballot and eliminating the rights of Colorado voters to vote for the candidate of their choice,” Mr. Cheung said.
