Former President Donald Trump leads President Biden in a new poll of voters in seven swing states just weeks before the start of caucus and primary season.
A poll released Thursday by Morning Consult and Bloomberg News shows Mr. Trump leading in North Carolina by 11 percentage points, Georgia by 7 points, Wisconsin by 6 points, Nevada by 5 points, Michigan by 4 points, Arizona by 3 points and Pennsylvania by 1 point.
The poll pointed out that Mr. Biden has lost his 1-point lead over the former president in Michigan since a survey conducted last month.
Those surveyed were given the option of Mr. Biden, Mr. Trump and third-party candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cornel West and Jill Stein, along with options for none of the candidates.
Mr. Kennedy was able to grab roughly 1 in 10 voters across the seven swing states. Mr. West received 1%-2% of voters, and Ms. Stein saw support from 1%-3%. Another 1%-3% supported a candidate not on the ballot.
When the three third-party candidates were removed, Mr. Trump continued to hold the lead in all the states, but pollsters said the Georgia race would fall within a margin of error of 6 percentage points.
The former president also gets a higher vote of confidence on the economy. On health care, Mr. Biden gets more support than Mr. Trump in five of the swing states — Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Mr. Trump wins Georgia and North Carolina on that issue.
The poll was conducted Nov. 27-Dec. 6 in the seven swing states. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
