The world’s richest man is getting further into education.

According to a Bloomberg report, Elon Musk has filed to create a charity called the Foundation. It will be responsible for doling out around $100 million to start a K-12 school in Austin, Texas.

After the school is up and running, Mr. Musk plans to expand it into a full-fledged university. According to the report, the Foundation filed for tax-exempt status in October 2022 and says it will be “dedicated to education at the highest levels,” featuring subjects such as science, technology, engineering and math.

The STEM-focused school will start with 50 students and expand. The school will also seek accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

Mr. Musk has entered the educational ring before. Nearly 10 years ago, he started a small school for his children and for children of employees at Tesla, of which he’s CEO.

With the Foundation, Mr. Musk will be joining entrepreneurs and political commentators starting independent universities. Both Jordan Peterson and Bari Weiss have started their schools with the hopes of attracting students away from traditional colleges.
