A University of North Carolina faculty member was shot and killed Monday and a suspect is in custody, according to a local report.
Law enforcement sources told WRAL-TV that a suspect was taken into custody at about 3:15 p.m.
Sources also told the station one UNC faculty member was killed by the suspect.
Campus police previously identified Tailei Qi as a person of interest soon after they reported an “armed and dangerous” man was seen around campus Monday afternoon.
It is unclear if Mr. Qi was the suspect arrested.

The university went into lockdown at about 1 p.m. after police issued a notice about an armed man roaming on and near the college.
“This is a tragic way to start a new semester and the state will provide any assistance necessary to support the UNC community,” Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat, said in a statement.
