CHICAGO — Chicago Cubs left-hander Drew Smyly has a perfect game after seven innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.
Smyly has thrown 60 of 93 pitches for strikes in his fourth start this year. He has already matched his season high for pitches.
Mookie Betts fouled out to first for the first out of the seventh. Chris Taylor then struck out looking before J.D. Martinez flied out to right, drawing a big round of cheers from the crowd of 30,381 at Wrigley Field.
Chicago has a 13-0 lead. The Cubs lost 6-2 to Los Angeles in the opener of the four-game series on Thursday night.
The 33-year-old Smyly has nine strikeouts. He fanned six in a row over one stretch.
Smyly went 7-8 with a 3.47 ERA in 22 starts for Chicago last season. He broke into the majors in 2012 with Detroit.
