In a remarkable turn of events, Fox News has settled its defamation case with Dominion Voting Systems, agreeing to pay it $787.5 million (“Fox News settles $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems, averts trial,” web, April 18).

Even more remarkable are the recent disclosures about the case. These include the fact that Fox newscasters, particularly Tucker Carlson, admitted knowingly broadcasting the lies in order to gain viewers and the fact that Fox News analyst Howard Kurtz publicly admitted that the allegations fomented by his network and former President Donald Trump were “false” and “conspiracy theories.”

“The idea that Dominion voting machines — former president Trump and his allies made this case on Fox and elsewhere — were somehow stealing votes from Donald Trump and flipping them to Joe Biden, that’s obviously false,” Kurtz said. “Those were conspiracy theories.”

This is not a good look for Fox News or Tucker Carlson. It is also not a good look for Mr. Trump.
