OPINION:
Shortly after former President Donald Trump’s arraignment hearing, I was on a radio show, and the hosts kept talking about the 34 counts of the indictment.
Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore. I said that none of it mattered. The focus of the indictment is Mr. Trump. The substance of the indictment is Mr. Trump. The motive behind the indictment is that he is still around — and could become president again. This is about hating Mr. Trump. It is not about the law or anything rational.
The same goes for the Democratic district attorney in Fulton County, Georgia, and the Department of Justice, if they seek to indict him. The Department of Justice would likely try to take Mr. Trump to trial in Washington, where he received 5.4% of the vote. A potential D.C.-based jury would be 19:1 Biden voters to Trump voters (and really, Trump voters would likely be struck by the prosecution to get a completely anti-Trump jury). It is clear that Mr. Trump can’t be tried in front of a jury of his peers in a D.C. court.
The current legal assault on Mr. Trump is simply a continuation of the corrupt, hostile establishment’s seven-year war. The Big Government socialists have attacked him on every front because he terrifies them. He represents an end to their power.
This is not a recent phenomenon. As early as April 2016 — before Mr. Trump was even nominated — the corporate media ran articles about his imminent impeachment. Two days after Mr. Trump won the 2016 election, Democratic activists had mobilization meetings across the country to plan how to stop the new administration. On the day Mr. Trump was inaugurated, The Washington Post carried a story about his potential impeachment.
We know that the Russian dossier and the collusion story was a hoax. We know the senior levels of the FBI colluded to treat it seriously. We know that The New York Times and The Washington Post won Pulitzer Prizes for covering the lies as though they were true.
We watched an independent council set up by the Justice Department go after Mr. Trump and fail. We saw the Nancy Pelosi dictatorship impeach Mr. Trump twice to no avail.
Meanwhile, the corrupt establishment protected Hillary Clinton after she deleted 33,000 emails and had staff use a hammer to destroy a hard drive that likely contained evidence of her wrongdoing. The Clinton Foundation escaped serious investigations despite various reports of corruption. Fifty-one intelligence officers signed a letter saying the Hunter Biden laptop story was disinformation when they knew it wasn’t. The Trump arraignment is the latest maneuver of a terrified establishment trying to protect itself and attack its enemies. We are being asked to pretend to take it seriously.
Every act of the establishment has increased the American people’s belief in its corruption. Every distorted and dishonest report by the elite corporate media has reduced their credibility with the American people.
Charging Mr. Trump virtually guarantees he will win the Republican nomination. Any attack on him will be seen by many Republican voters as the corrupt establishment protecting itself.
The collapse of President Biden’s policies will then lead to a Trump general election victory.
The only other American president to lose and then make a comeback was Grover Cleveland, who won in 1884, lost narrowly in 1888, and won again in 1892.
Gen. Edward S. Bragg, a supporter of Cleveland’s, reportedly said of his constituency: “They love him, gentlemen, and they respect him, not only for himself, for his character, for his integrity and judgment and iron will, but they love him most of all for the enemies he has made.”
This completely applies to Mr. Trump’s supporters. He should prominently display Cleveland’s portrait at Mar-a-Lago.
