OPINION:
It is time readers were reminded that carbon dioxide cannot be responsible for the demise of the planet. Greenhouse gases are important because without them the Earth would either burn up or freeze into a ball of ice.
Carbon dioxide makes up a minuscule part of all the greenhouse gases, Water vapor makes up 95% while carbon dioxide composes 3.6%, with human-made carbon dioxide accounting for just .12%. Carbon dioxide is necessary for human survival, with plants using it for synthesis and us needing plants for food.
Because it makes up so little of the greenhouse gases, it cannot be responsible for warming the climate. By cutting our reliance on energy sources, we are endangering the lives of people now, when whatever possible benefits there are to be had from current environmental legislation will not happen for many years.
It’s helpful to remember that none of the model predictions has been proven true. Scientists do not have the capability of reliably predicting the weather more than three to five days out, much less five 10, 50 or even 100 years in the future.
