OPINION:
Some media outlets have been reporting on Maryland gubernatorial candidate Wes Moore’s rush to pay a $21,000 water bill in Baltimore City. Immediately, the Democratic talking heads began saying the bill is more than likely a “bad” water bill and the matter was “on … Baltimore City.”
What? How does one all of a sudden get a $21,000 water bill? While the city has certainly had its problems with bad billings, this bill appears to have been genuinely delinquent.
The critical question here is, does this represent the moral character of Mr. Moore? He seems to have played loose with facts in his book. He has played the Biden tactic of staying in the basement and speaking only about vague Democratic dreams of all people being lifted up. He has not been open about how he will do that, however.
So is this bill a sign of disregard for fiscal responsibilities? Will Mr. Moore have an “I am above the law” attitude? If he cannot pay a bill or clear up the matter of erroneous charges, how will he deal with our very real and deadly problems? Dreaming that all people have a wonderful life is not a solution to anything.
