OPINION:
Voters by a vast majority think kids should be sheltered from pornographic materials in their school libraries, and that parents have a decided right to know that the teachers are teaching, according to a new poll from Rasmussen Reports.
Democrats — uh-oh. There goes your midterm hopes.
“Sixty-nine percent of voters believe books containing explicit sexual depictions of sex acts, including homosexual sex, should not be present in public high school libraries,” Rasmussen found.
“The majority opposed to sexually explicit books in public school libraries rises to 79% for middle schools and 85% for elementary schools,” Rasmussen also found.
What’s a good Democrat to campaign on now? Oh wait —there’s always January 6. It’s fondly called “ol’ reliable” around DNC camps. And if “ol reliable” goes sour on media cycles, there’s still the backup: Get Trump.
“All books should be in the library, all books,” First Lady Jill Biden said during one recent NBC News interview in which she was asked about explicit subject matter offered as reading materials to young kids in public schools.
“This is America,” she went on, adding: “We don’t ban books.”
No, not even the pornographic ones that fill the minds of the most impressionable with the darkest of humanity and most vile of images.
On this, the first lady stands largely alone.
“There is no such thing as ‘age-appropriate’ for obscenity and pornography in public school libraries,” said Karen England, president of the Capitol Resource Institute, to Rasmussen.
And that’s how the majority in America think, as well — even admittedly some of the Democrats who stand strangely silent in the fight against the radically evil LGBTQ lobby. Why won’t they speak up then?
That’s a great question.
Especially when you consider this, from Rasmussen: “Seventy-seven percent of voters are concerned that school-age children are being exposed to sexual material that is not age appropriate, including 55% who are Very Concerned. Only 20% are not concerned about children being exposed to inappropriate sexual material.”
It’s that 20% the silent Democrats believe will save them this November from a Republican sweep. But the math just doesn’t add in their favor.
From Rasmussen: 79% of whites, 73% of blacks and Hispanics and 72% of other minorities were “at least somewhat concerned” about the exposure of school children to sexually graphic materials.
“Majorities of Republicans (85%), Democrats (56%) and 69% of voters not affiliate with either major party believe it is Very Important that public schools fully inform parents about what is being taught to their children in classrooms,” Rasmussen wrote.
The take-away?
Democrats are on the wrong side of these issues.
Voters — voters! — across several crucial demographics agree.
Yet the left will continue to tackle climate change as a voter priority, followed by Hate Trump, Get Trump and Indict Trump, followed by feeding porn too little kids.
It’s a travesty. It’s a cultural cancer. But it’s all the more reason why conservatives need to win and will, this November, no doubt, win big.
