ARLINGTON, TEXAS — In his first public appearance of the season, embattled Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder was seen at midfield before Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Snyder was spotted chatting with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Cowboys CEO Stephen Jones. Snyder was also with his wife, Tanya, and Jason Wright, Commanders president. Snyder was in a navy sports coat and khaki pants.
Snyder has kept a noticeably lower public profile since February, when former employee Tiffani Johnston told members of Congress that the owner inappropriately touched her leg underneath a table at a work dinner and later tried to coax her into his limo. Snyder denied the accusations, but the claims prompted a new probe from the NFL.
In July, Snyder testified remotely for nearly 11 hours in a deposition with the House Oversight and Reform Committee, the congressional panel looking into the allegations of workplace misconduct that have dogged the NFL franchise.
A year earlier, the NFL fined the team $10 million after more than 40 women said they witnessed or experienced sexual harassment while working for the team. A transcript from Snyder’s deposition still has not been released.
Snyder spent most of the summer out of the country as his lawyer said he was in Israel to observe the one-year anniversary of his mother’s death.
Before Sunday, Snyder had not been seen publicly at any of the Commanders’ three games this season. In Washington’s Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, television cameras cut to co-owner and co-CEO Tanya Snyder sitting in the team’s owner’s box, but Dan Snyder was not seated next to her and was not shown on Fox’s broadcast.
