No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you.
The New York Giants are actually 5-1. And the New York Jets are actually 4-2.
The two perennial cellar dwellers have turned around their fortunes early this season and are two of the best teams in the NFL.
The only team with a better record than the Giants are the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles. The Minnesota Vikings are the only other 5-1 team in the NFC.
Meanwhile, the Jets are also tied for the second-best record in the AFC with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Buffalo Bills are atop the AFC at 5-1. (The 3-2 Los Angeles Chargers play the Denver Broncos on “Monday Night Football.”)
The Giants haven’t made the postseason since 2016, while the Jets haven’t played in the playoffs since 2010. For the previous five seasons, both New York franchises were 22-59.
The Giants, led by first-year coach Brian Daboll, defeated the Ravens 24-20 on Sunday. The Jets, led by second-year coach Robert Saleh upset the Packers in Green Bay 27-10.
