It was supposed to be all about abortion. They told us that was going to bring the big blue wave.

But, it turns out, normal people don’t fill up their trucks with abortions at $4 a gallon. And moms don’t spend $300 every week on grocery carts full of abortions. Abortion doesn’t save you from getting mugged walking down the street.

So the memo went out last week to Democrat politicians that abortion enthusiasm was not translating into votes for them.

“Quick! Let’s talk about something else!” said somebody in Democrat headquarters.

“OK, good idea. But what?”

“I don’t know! Let’s start talking about something voters care about.”

Long silence.

“Does anybody know what these people care about?”

“Abortion.”

“No, you idiot! That’s not working. Something else.”

Another long silence.

“I saw on Twitter somebody said they care about the economy.”

“You dummy! We can’t talk about the economy! Remember? We totally wrecked the economy! What do you think we’ve been doing these past two years while in total control of Washington?”

“Uh, how about gas prices?”

“No! We already yelled at them about that and told them to buy $70,000 electric cars. And they’re not listening.”

“What if we said Republicans are going to take away their Social Security checks?”

“Great idea!”

In desperation, they trotted former President Barack Obama out onto the campaign trail.

“Some of you here are on Social Security,” the chief charlatan said. “Some of your parents are on Social Security. Some of your grandparents are on Social Security.”

“I’ll tell you,” Mr. Obama told Wisconsin voters. “They want to gut Social Security, then Medicare and then give some more tax breaks to the wealthy.”

These people will literally say anything — tell any lie — just to hold onto power.

The only thing more shameless than Mr. Obama lying to voters is when President Biden repeats the same lies — and then takes them too far.

“Seniors are getting the biggest increase in their Social Security checks in 10 years through President Biden’s leadership,” Mr. Biden proudly crowed on the official White House Twitter account.

In truth, the rise in payments is thanks to a law passed during the Nixon administration requiring that Social Security payments keep up with — inflation!

It was such a galloping lie that even Twitter scratched its head. And the White House was forced to remove the dishonest claim.

Meanwhile, Democrats are clawing at anything to save themselves. In a rare foray outside Democrat strongholds, Mr. Biden spoke to voters in Florida. The ever-hapless Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz drew the short straw and was charged with getting the voters excited to hear Mr. Biden speak.

The voters were asleep.

“C’mon, people, let’s wake up!” she begged. “We got the president in the house!”

There was a smattering of hoots and claps from the audience — before they hit the snooze button again.

Back in the friendly, corrupt and desolate Democrat stronghold of Washington, D.C., Mr. Biden decided to give a speech at Union Station train depot to declare that the coming wave of democracy was, well, a threat to democracy.

Before Mr. Biden’s speech, the White House had to dispatch the Secret Service to clear out all the scenes of desperation and depravity and piles of garbage that have accumulated around the great hall of Union Station under the relentless reign of Democrat policies. The hollowed-out homeless who live in foul tents hard against statues, beside barren fountains and under stone archways were pressed out into the neighborhoods with their shopping carts where fabulously wealthy people live — the wealthy who grow rich under Democrat policies.

By all accounts, Mr. Biden’s speech was uninspiring. But then again, nobody watched it.

At least he didn’t stand in a hellish red glow and call us “fascists.”
