There is a tremendous urgency on the part of the American people, certainly on the part of Republicans. While we see our nation facing continued high prices at the gas pump and for our heating oil this winter, we also know that grocery prices, rent, interest rates … heck, the cost for everything keeps going up. Will Congress respond to that urgency?

I have my doubts, and that’s why I put myself into the arena to run for speaker. It is long past time to turn the page and change the paradigm.

Republicans promised a massive “red wave” election to sweep aside the authors of our national chaos and to usher in a promise of restoration to national economic and societal normalcy.

The “red wave” failed to materialize: The Democrats kept control of the United States Senate, and the House of Representatives will have the barest of Republican majorities. And, races of national interest, like the governor’s contest in Arizona, have a cloud over them with a Democrat already being proclaimed the victor.

Patriotic conservatives are questioning how Pennsylvania elected a man who was physically ailing and had a record of favoring murderers over victims of criminal violence. We wonder how a very, very, very nervous and almost incoherent Democrat who had an obvious conflict of interest could actually defeat a charismatic candidate like Kari Lake in Arizona.

My office is inundated with queries of why Republicans have nominated in the House and elected in the Senate the same major leaders who have failed to stanch the inundation of crazy, leftist policies since President Biden took the helm of this historically important and great country.

In just two short years, the Mr. Biden regime has walked us to the brink of a general war, damaged our prestige internationally, wokeified our military, proclaimed that transgenderism is the new norm, and reduced us to energy dependence and reliance on tyrants who extort us, resulting in record high prices of gas and heating oil.

Mr. Biden has injected trillions of dollars into our economy, resulting in persistent inflation that Mr. Biden’s own secretary of the treasury assures will last for several more years.

Mr. Biden has encouraged more than 5 million illegal border crossings, bringing with it more than 107,000 deaths by opioid poisoning, infiltration by criminal gangs into our communities, more than 100 foreign terrorists, and inhumane conditions along our southern border.

The Biden team has advocated for gender-bending sex education programs starting as young as preschool. They champion racial division and discrimination.

The Biden gang with their congressional accomplices have foisted significant portions of the “Green New Deal” upon the country that will leave us with an inadequate power grid and failed to assure that we have enough resources, like …  food and water. All of this without actually making America more environmentally sound.

The question then is, what will the Republican majority in the United States House of Representatives do to stop or slow down the Biden regime?

And, of course, that begets other questions such as whether the Republicans will use every tool in the toolbox to advance an agenda to counter the attack on America by Mr. Biden.

Will we leverage the budget to remove 87,000 new IRS agents? Will we be willing to slow down spending bills by insisting on the renewal of the Keystone XL pipeline construction?

Will we halt the National Defense Authorization Act until we eliminate the myriad “woke” programs Democrats have inserted into the military? Will we insist on rehiring the men and women of the military forced out because of the unnecessary vaccine mandate imposed by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin?

Will we get to the bottom of the COVID-19 origins and hold those responsible who foisted antiscientific, tyrannical policies on Americans?

It is truly a time to turn a page. New leadership is necessary.

Republicans need a leader who will not foreclose using oversight as a tool to slow Mr. Biden and his cronies. We need a leader who doesn’t look at the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas as a “political” process but instead understands that Mr. Mayorkas has committed “high crimes and misdemeanors” that warrant impeachment.

And, finally, we need a leader who will use every leverage point to defeat as much of the Biden agenda as possible and pass as much of our agenda as we can.

It’s past time. Success in 2024 hinges on what we do now. I pray my colleagues feel the urgency of Americans and join me in ushering in a new era for Republicans in Congress.
