Jeff Bezos is reportedly interested in buying the Washington Commanders. And fans are apparently on board with that possibility.
The Amazon founder was selected as the Commanders’ fans’ top choice for becoming the next owner, according to a Morning Consult survey. The polling group surveyed more than 1,500 NFL fans — 373 of whom identified as Commanders fans — and Bezos was the fans’ preferred choice to buy the team.
Among Commanders fans, Bezos earned 14% of the vote — beating out others like private equity investor David Blitzer (6%), Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Josh Harris (6%) and media mogul Byron Allen (6%). Eleven total suitors were listed for fans to vote on.
Bezos also earned 16% of the vote among general NFL fans.
The survey was conducted between Nov. 4 and 6. The Amazon billionaire was spotted at dinner in Los Angeles last week with rapper Jay-Z, who People Magazine reported could join Bezos in bidding for the Commanders.
The Commanders announced earlier this month that the Snyders have hired an investment bank to explore “potential transactions” that include a sale of the team.
