With his plan to forgive student loan debt, President Biden is about to make fools out of a lot of us (“Biden says his student loan plan is ’not yet’ finished,” Web, May 2).

You’re a fool if, as a parent, you denied yourself new cars and vacations in order to pay for your kids’ educations. You should have gone ahead and splurged.

You’re a fool if you worked while going to college. You should have partied late and slept in. Your friends who did will have their debt forgiven.

And most assuredly, you’re a fool if you joined the military in part to help with college costs. Are you now missing a limb? Do you suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder? Well, you could have stayed home and run up debt because Joe is going to vaporize it.

Of course, I understand the president’s position. It’s no doubt tough to see other young people struggling with such heavy financial burdens when your own son ran around the world collecting millions from communist and other shady governments only because his last name is Biden.
