RG3’s still got wheels, and some NFL teams may be interested.

Former Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III recently ran a blazing fast 40-yard dash at a charity event, and he later said that he got calls from NFL teams as a result.

At a charity event run by radio host Rich Eisen, Griffin, 32, clocked in at 4.48 seconds on his 40 time. The sprint was measured with a hand-timer, which can cause times to be about two-tenths of a second faster than they actually are. Nevertheless, some NFL teams were impressed.

“Yes, I did get some calls because of that 4.48,” Griffin said on “The Rich Eisen Show” earlier this week.

The 4.48 40 time is only seven-hundredths of a second slower than the 4.41 he ran at the NFL Combine in 2012.

Griffin last played in the NFL in 2020 as a backup with the Baltimore Ravens. He is currently a college football analyst for ESPN.

“I’m a young guy, 32 years old,” Griffin said. “We see guys like Tom Brady playing until they’re 45. Now he’s got seven Super Bowl rings, so that kind of plays into that and I don’t have any. But the desire to play is still there. I’ve just been blessed that ESPN has given me an opportunity to do what I’ve done for the past eight months in the broadcast world, while also understanding that I still have a desire to play.”

Before being a backup for Lamar Jackson in Baltimore and a stint as a starter for the Browns, Griffin was a dynamic, dual-threat quarterback for Washington. The former Heisman Trophy winner and first-round pick won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2012 with the Redskins. But his career took a downturn from there as his play and health deteriorated.

Griffin told Eisen that the Cowboys, Falcons and Bears are places he could see himself signing, if those teams are interested. He said the Cowboys would be a “great situation” for him.
