The Washington Commanders have a new quarterback.

A day after missing out on Russell Wilson, the team acquired Carson Wentz from the Indianapolis Colts, a source with knowledge of the situation said. The team reportedly traded two third-round picks for him and is taking on his full $28 million salary.

Wentz leaves the Colts after just one season. Indianapolis traded  for the former No. 2 overall selection last year, but the experiment ended disastrously as the Colts were upset in a stunning Week 18 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars to miss the playoffs.

Wentz spent his first few seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, once looking like one of the brightest young quarterbacks in the league until his performance dramatically fell off upon returning from a torn ACL in 2018.
