OPINION:
Donald Trump filed a 108-page lawsuit against Hillary Clinton, the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Fusion GPS and others, alleging that he suffered more than $24 million in damages and from lost business due to the 47 defendants’ “maliciously conspired” “false narrative” of Russian collusion.
Once again, Trump is getting the last word.
This isn’t just the revenge of Trump. This is the revenge of the deplorables. This is the revenge of a nation of Trump supporters who were sickened by the deep state shenanigans that plagued his administration from day one — from even before day one, to tell the truth, if you count the catcalls from Democrats who wanted him impeached before he was even inaugurated.
“Under the guise of ‘opposition research,’ … the Defendants nefariously sought to sway the public’s trust,” the complaint reads. “They worked together with a single, self-serving purpose: to vilify Donald J. Trump. Indeed, their far-reaching conspiracy was designed to cripple Trump’s bid for presidency by fabricating a scandal that would be used to trigger an unfounded federal investigation and ignite a media frenzy.”
And that’s just what happened.
That’s exactly what ensued.
The Democrats, in collaboration with their partners in the media, in partnership with their collaborators in the intelligence community, managed to keep alive such now-debunked lies as pee tapes and prostitutes and Trump’s secret communications with Russian financial authorities. On that last, attorney Michael Sussmann was arrested for lying.
“[Special counsel John] Durham’s investigation indicted Michael Sussmann, a D.C. attorney, for making a false statement to the FBI in 2016 when he claimed there was an alleged secret channel of communications between the Trump Organization and a Russian bank. The FBI determined that insufficient evidence existed to support the allegation,” Rolling Stone wrote.
Sussmann’s named as a defendant in Trump’s lawsuit. So’s Igor Danchenko, the Russian analyst who worked with Christopher Steele and Democrat operatives to fabricate and spread all the dossier lies about Trump. So’s Christopher Steele, for that matter.
So is Peter Strzok, the face of arrogance for the FBI whose texts to his fellow FBI-er and partner-in-adultery Lisa Page — who’s also a named defendant — showed a determined bias against Trump among many in the intel community.
So’s lying James Comey.
So’s lying Andrew McCabe.
So’s lying Bruce Ohr.
“These government officials were willing to abuse their positions of public trust to advance the baseless probe to new levels, including obtaining an extrajudicial FISA warrant and investigating the commencement of an oversight investigation headed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller,” Trump’s complaint states. “As a result, Donald J. Trump and his campaign were forced to expend tens of millions of dollars in legal fees to defend against these contrived and unwarranted proceedings.”
And for what?
In the end, Mueller found what most in America already knew — that Trump did not collude with Russia.
It wasn’t just Trump’s wallet that was scorched by the witch hunt. The American taxpayers lost millions and millions and millions of dollars, both in direct payments to Team Mueller and in salaries for congressional members who conducted sham hearings about fabricated collusion charges, when they could have been doing more appropriate business for the people. Maybe the American people should join the suit, or file one of their own, demanding a refund.
The Trump-hating members of the media are already pitching the suit as frivolous, ridiculous, the latest itineration of election conspiracy talk.
“Trump’s lawsuit against Clinton and 47 others is a predictable mess,” one Washington Post analysis said.
“Recognizing Trump’s new anti-Clinton lawsuit for what it is,” another MSNBC headline snarked, before predicting the complaint would backfire on the previous president during the deposition stage.
But like all things having to do with Trump, the left is missing the point.
For Americans, for Trump supporters, it’s not so much about winning the case. It’s about making the fight. It’s about taking the fight that the left created, fabricated and waged for so many years against Trump — and throwing it back in their faces.
It’s about the defense of the deplorable.
It’s about the slap-down of arrogant bureaucrats who hid their double-edged sword dealings and their deep state influences behind closed doors for so long that they forgot they could still be held accountable to the people. They forgot that — until Donald Trump reminded them by outing them, by naming them, by fight, fight, fighting them. By fighting even members of his own Republican Party who wanted to work with Democrats and forget their conservative constituents.
The Democrats, the Republicans In Name Only, the deep staters, the elite, the globalists, the leftists in most media will never understand Trump, and why so many of the American people loved Trump, and continue to love and support Trump. That’s why they have to mock and dismiss and disparage him. They fear what they cannot understand and cannot control.
But win or lose this suit, Trump wins with his supporters. He wins because he fights. And that’s what counts most.
