OPINION:
Russia, according to U.S. officials speaking both publicly and privately to the media, has reached out to China with requests for wartime assistance.
Hello, World War III.
Or, as America’s illustrious vice president, Kamala Harris, might put it: Russia is a really big country — and so is China.
“Russia has asked China for military support, including drones, as well as economic assistance for its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, according to conservations CNN had with two US officials,” CNN wrote.
And in a recent press gaggle, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan sent a stern warning China’s way about helping Russia bypass economic sanctions by saying, “We will not allow that to go forward,” The Associated Press reported.
Good thing it was a stern warning, rather than just the generic, regular ol’ warning. It’s one level away from a red line, dontcha know.
But seriously now, Russia plus China would a new world war make.
China says it’s not involved; China says it’s a lie — that Russia has not requested military equipment and other support, and saying so is a false, defamatory, propaganda-like disinformation campaign.
That’s how we know it’s probably true.
“[T]he U.S. has been spreading disinformation and this is very dangerous,” Beijing foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at a press briefing reported by NBC News.
Lijian added this: “We need to advance a diplomatic solution of the situation instead of further escalating the situation.”
Yes.
Diplomacy works.
Of course, diplomacy works better when the target of the diplomatic attempt isn’t busily blowing up hospitals and children and such. But hey, who says President Biden isn’t the man with the plan.
Over the weekend, a Russian airstrike killed dozens in western Ukraine.
That’s called diplomacy — Russian style.
These perilous times only get more perilous the more Biden bungles, the more Harris cackles — the more Team Biden pretends its members know what they’re doing.
When America is weak, the world is in turmoil. And when the whispers turn to nations helping nations in war, and nations making alliances against other nations for war, the direction is definitely more turmoil — more war — more revelation-like end times. In other words: World War III.
