LeBron James is now in a class of his own — at least by one measure.
James on Sunday dished out his 10,000 assist, making him the first player in NBA history to reach the 10,000 mark in points, rebounds and assists. The 10,000th assist came on a pass to Carmelo Anthony, who knocked down a 3-pointer in the second quarter.
“To now sit alone at a statistical category in this league that I’ve really modeled my game after: being able to score, rebound and assist,” James said. “I sit alone at a stat is pretty like — I’d say ’cool,’ but it doesn’t quite make sense to me.
This assist counts as number 10,000 for LeBron James 👏🏾

What a better way to earn the assist than by his lifelong friend Carmelo Anthony drilling the three 💦pic.twitter.com/iZchk8iJha
“I get lost for words anytime things like this are happening to me because of where I come from,” he said. “I automatically start thinking to my hometown of Akron [Ohio] and my upbringing and where I come from and the dreams that I had of being in this league and playing at the highest level.”
James ranks third all-time in regular-season points with 36,824 — 104 points behind Karl Malone and 1,563 behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He’s now seventh in NBA history in assists with 10,004 and 39th in rebounds with 10,150.
