After reading “Democratic AGs, Soros-backed prosecutors vow to defy abortion laws,” I’m embarrassed to think that while other countries admire our legal system, our own law-enforcement officers are busy undermining it.

Of course, we should not be surprised by these prosecutors’ actions if we consider that since 2020 they have been unwilling to enforce our laws. Their declarations that they will ignore the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on Roe v. Wade are inexcusable, and they should immediately resign or be terminated for failure to uphold the law.

I understand that there are a variety of opinions among judicial officials. Despite these differences, they did take an oath to uphold all rulings. Their objections set a precedent that encourages lawlessness, such as harassment of justices, violent threats against doctors and medical staff, and the destruction of clinics nationwide. Such disregard is something you see in dictatorships.

My parents always said, “Be careful what you ask for because you may not like what you get.” In my opinion, many of these individuals would not have been elected by voters in 2020 had their financial backers been properly and widely disclosed. These prosecutors’ actions are unhealthy for our legal system and demonstrate little regard for the rule of law. The beauty of our system is that a member of the court can disagree with a ruling — but as a servant of the court, he or she remains obligated to fulfill the responsibility.
