Cynthia Hogan, a longtime advisor to President Biden, is returning to work for the NFL as senior advisor to Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Hogan, who most recently was a member of Biden’s vice presidential search team, first worked for the NFL as senior vice president and the league’s top lobbyist from 2014 to 2016.
“I am excited to welcome Cynthia back to the NFL,” Goodell said in a press release. “Cynthia was a well-respected executive during her time with us and has a wealth of experience on a variety of matters that are important to the NFL, the clubs, players and fans. I look forward to working with her and our executive team to further grow the NFL in all areas.”
Hogan started with Biden when he was a senator and chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. She then worked as counsel for then-Vice President Biden before starting with the NFL in 2014.
In 2016, she was hired by Apple as vice president for public policy and government affairs. She left the company in 2020 when she was asked to help lead Biden’s vice presidential vetting committee that led to Kamala Harris.
Hogan’s return to the NFL comes as Democrats on Capitol Hill have ramped up pressure on the league to release more information about the commissioner’s investigation of Washington Football Team owner Dan Snyder and the extent of his role in the sexual harassment scandal in the organization.
