Rodgers criticizes Biden’s ‘fake White House’ over vaccine stance

Aaron Rodgers is trying to get the last laugh on President Biden, who joked about the Green Bay quarterback not being vaccinated last month.

In an interview with ESPN for a story that was published Friday, Rodgers called the current administration a “fake White House,” taking objection to Biden saying COVID-19 is a “pandemic of the unvaccinated.”

“When the president of the United States says, ‘This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated,’ it’s because him and his constituents, which, I don’t know how there are any if you watch any of his attempts at public speaking, but I guess he got 81 million votes,” Rodgers said to ESPN.

“But when you say stuff like that, and then you have the CDC, which — how do you even trust them? — but then they come out and talk about 75% of the COVID deaths have at least four comorbidities. And you still have this fake White House set saying that this is the pandemic of the unvaccinated, that’s not helping the conversation.”

The COVID-19 comments are far from Rodgers’ first. The quarterback caused a stir in November, when he tested positive for the virus and reports emerged that he was unvaccinated.

That confused many who believed Rodgers had gotten the jab after he told reporters before the season started he had been “immunized.” Rodgers then talked about the controversy twice on “The Pat McAfee Show” on YouTube, using phrases like “woke mob” and “cancel culture” and saying he had spoken with podcaster Joe Rogan about COVID-19 treatments like ivermectin.

Since then, Rodgers has been criticized and teased on social media, despite being the oddsmakers’ MVP frontrunner. Saturday night into Sunday, however, may have set a new record for Rodgers jokes on Twitter in the wake of the Packers’ loss at home.

The top-seeded Packers lost to the San Francisco 49ers 13-10 in the NFC Divisional Round. Rodgers and the Packers’ offense scored a touchdown on the first drive of the game but only mustered a field goal in the final three-and-a-half quarters. With a chance to orchestrate a game-winning drive, Rodgers went three-and-out and was resigned to the sideline to watch 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo take his team downfield to set up a field goal as time expired.

“Everyone stop making fun of Aaron Rodgers, he hates being needled,” wrote The Athletic’s Grant Brisbee.

“Congratulations to Jimmy Garoppolo on replacing Dr. Fauci as Aaron Rodgers’ least favorite Italian,” wrote another Twitter user.

“I guess Aaron Rodgers also got immunized against winning in the postseason,” Fox Sports’ Skip Bayless tweeted.

Last month while touring tornado damage in Kentucky, Mr. Biden spotted a storm survivor wearing a Packers hat. “Tell that quarterback he’s got to get the vaccine,” the president quipped.
